In Loving Memory
10-17-09
Ah, football Saturdays, how I love thee. The TV has been on all day with various college match-ups as I've been cleaning and doing laundry. The sun has finally come out after a very wet morning, supposedly there are thunderstorms and possible funnel clouds in our forecast tonight. It's just like being back home!
Earlier in the week I attempted to make my mother's potato soup. I am happy to report that the endeavor was a great success! There are a few slight changes I will be implementing the next time I try the recipe, though.
Last night I watched Repo! The Genetic Opera, a very dark musical about organ repossessions. There are a few times where the music falls flat, but for the most part it was a highly entertaining film. I put up one of the tunes for you all to take in and there is also an unrelated music video to enjoy. So... enjoy!

Hello all, I am currently sickly and curled up on my couch with OJ in hand and laptop in lap. There is also KU football on my television so I am a happy camper. It's the first game of the season I've been able to watch and I'm excited to see the Jayhawks in action. Once the game is over I will have to lock myself in my room to work on my composing assignment. It will be a difficult task, especially with so much football to watch.
My first week's assignment was received well by my instructor and peers which certainly helps my confidence level going into this intensive year of coursework. I now have to take one of the melodies I wrote last week and use the theme to write for two different scenes. This is a little more fun than last week since I actually have an idea what I'm writing for and not just composing blind themes that could go with anything.
Ok, I'm going to go back to my football game and eventual homework assignment. There's an interesting music video up for all to see, so have it!

Wow, it's October! Who'd a-thunk it? I know that it's been awhile since I've posted, I'm sure most of you have forgotten about your dear old Sammy. The roommate search and following transitional move in/move out stage took up a great deal of my time and as of this last Monday I am back to my schooling. This quarter will be a grueling one as I will be slogging away at weekly compositional assignments in the hopes of proving myself worthy of scoring a short film. If I am successful in this venture I will be given a film in January and have my score recorded by a 45 piece orchestra next summer!
I would fill you in more on the new roommates and other happenings in my life but it is time for bed. I will do my best to keep you all up to date over the next ten weeks if I have the time. Toodles!
